Services

So you want to be a government contractor. The information is available, to help you identify the right industry (NAICS), the right government clients and even the right time. It's there and there for free however the government doesn’t make it readily accessibly or even easy to understand. To get information about opportunities, you have to go to one site; to get information about contracting officers, you have to go to another site; to get information about how much money contracting officers are spending and/or how much they have spent on similar contracts over the years, you have to go to – yep, you guessed it, still other sites. PMC can help you navigate your way to success.

USA Spending

www.usaspending.gov -- USAspending.gov data is available for anyone who has internet access. Subcontract data is available in USAspending.gov. USAspending.gov is a government website launched in 2007 to provide access to the federal spending data mandated by the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006. USAspending.gov includes data on all spending by the federal government, including contracts, grants, loans, employee salaries, and more. Researchers, entrepreneurs, can use this data and anyone interested in analyzing how federal tax dollars are spent. The USAspending.gov database is a database updated weekly. The snapshot provides bulk access to the entire USAspending.gov database that powers the USAspending.gov API.

Federal Procurement Data System - Next Generation (FPDS) (www.fpds.gov) -- The FPDS is a government website that gives unprecedented real-time access to government spending patterns. The system is free to access. The Federal Procurement Database System identifies, who bought what, from whom, when, for how much, and where. The beauty of a system like this is that it allows contractors to look at past contract actions to determine the propensity and viability of doing business with the government.  A quick search can tell you if the government is spending money on what you sell, how much they are spending on it, who the top agencies are that are buying what you sell, and who your competition and best teaming partners are. A large percentage of Government contracts that have an estimated value of $3,000 or more as well as modifications to the contract. Keep this in mind when you are searching the system because you will often find multiple "actions" on a particular contract. This does not mean a new contract has been issued. It simply means that some sort of contract "action" has occurred. Contracting actions are updated on a daily basis to FPDS. Due to federal requirements, contract actions often take 90 days to be posted to FPDS. In other words, FPDS is often behind by one calendar quarter. FPDS does not track or have report data available for the following: Grants, FEDSTRIP's, MILSTRIP's, GSA stock, and GSA consolidated purchase programs and government purchase card purchases under the micro-purchase threshold.

System for Award Management (www.sam.gov) --

The System for Award Management (SAM.gov) is an official website of the U.S. Government. There is no cost to use SAM.gov. You can use this site to:

  • Register to do business with the U.S. Government
  • Update, renew, or check the status of your entity registration
  • Search for entity registration and exclusion records
  • Search for assistance listings (formerly CFDA.gov), wage determinations (formerly WDOL.gov), contract opportunities (formerly FBO.gov), and contract data reports (formerly part of FPDS.gov).
  • View and submit BioPreferred and Service Contract Reports
  • Access publicly available award data via data extracts and system accounts
